Storyteller, Canada Celebrates Folklore, Kenya

Jerry Haigh is a Kenya-born, Glasgow-schooled veterinarian, who lives in Canada’s province of Saskatchewan. After graduation he returned to Africa. During the ten years he spent there he worked on many species of wildlife in six countries. In 1975 he moved with his family from Kenya to Saskatoon to a position as a wildlife veterinarian at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. For a further 34 years he worked with a wide variety of exotic animals, both in zoos and free-ranging environments. These included polar bears, seals, moose, caribou and reindeer and several species of deer in several countries. For nine years he took veterinary students to Uganda to study the complex relationship between humans, livestock and wildlife.

His website (www.jerryhaigh.com) has links to other activities that include his books and magazine articles, storytelling, photography, and woodworking.
