Mariam Mahmoud

Lebanon is a place Mariam Mahmoud holds very dear to her. Not only is it her birthplace, where her cultural traditions come from, but it is also where her heart lies—her family, who have been born and raised there. She is currently an interior design student in Ottawa, Canada. Her parents put in a lot of effort to help her learn more about where she was from. She is a reader who believes that stories are very powerful and have a huge impact on how we view the world. Through books, she also learned about different cultures, languages, and issues happening in different countries. Mariam is an active member of her community and participated in the ‘Be an Upstander Showcase’ at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to raise awareness about global issues.
